I Don't Have a Fitting Title

I don't make it a secret that I am not a fan of Bryce Harper.  I have respect for his incredible talent, but it is hard for me to respect him as a person.  This article on MLB.com solidifies my disdain for him.  I have a real problem with his lack of humbleness.  He hasn't proven a thing yet but he feels entitled.

This is the newest piece, where Bryce Harper states that he is striving to be like Joe Namath.  Yes, that is what I wrote.  Here's a line from the article, just to give you some idea:

"I'm not your typical, 'Hey, I'm going to be Johnny Good.' You are a baseball player. ... I'm going to have fun off the field, too."

Here's the link, if you can stomach it.

  1. Boy, I really feel you've got him all wrong. And he is just 19. I guess we'll see once he get in the bigs and we get more chances to know him. In the mean time, I'll be glad to accept any Harpers you get! ; )

    1. Lol...I'll send you all my Harpers for sure :-). Why do you think I have him all wrong? I am not judging him on this one article, it is the totality of his comments and actions so far that really rub me the wrong way. I'm curious to know what you (and others) think of him. I am all for confidence, but shouldn't there be a bit more humbleness? Is humbleness even a word?

  2. Yeah. He has that ***hole quality about him. You know when they say a player is confident, not cocky? He's just cocky.

  3. As Kid Rock would say,
"They say I'm cocky, and I say "what?!" it ain't braggin' motherf^&%#$r if ya back it up!!!"
And only time will tell if he can back it up...
