Bowing Down: 2011 Tribute Roy Halladay /50

In honor of the sweet pitching matchup tonight, I decided to feature a certain card today on the blog.  What pitching matchup?  You know, just Josh Johnson vs. Roy Halladay.  It's like Christmas, with the present set to be opened tonight at 7:10 EST in south Florida.

Johnson seems to be a fan of Halladay's.  The Miami Herald reports:

Josh Johnson is so enamored of Roy Halladay that he followed him around like “a little brother” at last year’s All-Star Game and asked for permission simply to watch the Phllies ace throw a bullpen session during a Marlins trip to Philadelphia last season.“I watched pretty intently,” Johnson said.

Philly.com has the lowdown:

Pitching matchup: Phillies RHP Roy Halladay (5-1, 2.19) vs. Marlins RHP Josh Johnson (3-1, 1.68).

Halladay vs. Marlins: Halladay is off to another sizzling start, having struck out 57 while walking only seven in an NL-high 53 innings this season. He faced Florida five times last season, winning four, with the lone exception a June 10 game against Johnson that Florida won, 2-0. In those five starts, Halladay allowed just seven runs in 38 innings.

Phillies vs. Johnson: Johnson is coming off his first tough start of the season, a 6-3 loss to the Cardinals in which he walked four and allowed five runs in 7 innings. Prior to that outing, he had allowed just four earned runs in 41 innings. Johnson did not allow an earned run in 15 innings against the Phillies last season. He faced Halladay in both of his starts, winning one and losing one.

I saw this card on their blog and I had to have it.  Had to.

I guess you can say it was a cardboard problem.

Marie at A Cardboard Problem was nice enough to send me this absolutely gorgeous 2011 Tribute Roy Halladay she pulled from a pack the blog was reviewing.

The scan doesn't come close to doing this card justice.  It's heavy, and it shimmers.  I want all 50 of them.

To the ladies at A Cardboard Problem: the first hit(s) I get of one of the players in your player collections, they'll be coming your way!

Back to the marquee matchup.  The only crappy thing is that the Marlins have real trouble selling seats to their games, so there might not be much electricity in SunLife Stadium.  Just empty seats.

Over/Under the number of strikeouts in tonight's game between both teams?  Let's set the line at 16.
