The Prospect of Prospects

Seeing all of the 1st Bowman Cards and the prospects on them has got me thinking about picking up a few oddball prospect cards.  I don't know much about it, but I'd venture a guess and say the price is right for many of these autos and game used cards that are out there from guys who haven't played an inning in the majors yet.  Perhaps these guys will have break out seasons and then their card values will skyrocket.  A gamble, of course, but possible.

We'll see what I decide to do.  I haven't had time to go to any card shows or even browse ebay, really, so I don't know how realistic this is in the immediate future.  Does anyone collect prospects?  I'm not talking Bryce Harper, or even top 5 draft picks.  I'm thinking guys that are drafted later the first round, like around pick ten and above.  Guys who aren't big names, and maybe never will be.

These guys are big names, though.
And we turn up the base (cards).

I got some nice gold cards as you can see above. You can also see the scan cut off some of the cards.  I was too lazy to rescan.  Actually, I didn't notice until I uploaded the picture to this post.

I pulled a few cards for my player collections, like the Kyle Drabek and Joey Votto. I find the base design of this set to be pretty boring, but I do like the foil team logos on the bottom.

Anyway, I am entertaining the prospect of collecting some prospects.  Prospectively speaking.
